Lina / Artist

1998,

Born in Hokkaido,Japan

Basedn in London,2025~

Self-taught artist from Japan.

My time as a nurse exposed me not only to moments of death but also to every interaction with patients, all of which left a profound impact.

These experiences led me to reflect deeply on life and made me more receptive to inspiration from everyday moments. It was through this process that I began my journey as an artist.

My work centers on “emotion.” I believe that feeling, including pain and vulnerability, is at the heart of being human and the source of beauty.

Painting allows me to express my own emotions while also creating opportunities for viewers, through engaging with my work, to quietly reflect on their own inner world. This approach is deeply connected to my experiences witnessing the fragility and value of life as a nurse.

I use surrealism and a distinctive palette of purples to create mystical, introspective spaces that encourage connection with one’s inner self.

Since moving to London, I have developed a deeper awareness of the quiet, subtle ways emotion is expressed in Japanese culture. Through layered textures and fabric motifs, I aim to convey the depth of feelings and sensations that often remain beyond words.
